The current National Food Safety Standard for the Use of Food Additives (GB 2760-2014) stipulates the principles for the use of food additives, the permitted varieties of food additives, their scope of use, and maximum usage or residue limits. Strict adherence to these regulations ensures the safety of food additives. To guarantee the safe and standardized use of food additives, my country has established a strict approval system. Only food additives that are technically necessary and have been proven safe and reliable through risk assessment are allowed. The system clearly specifies the permitted food categories and dosages for each food additive.
In formulating these scopes and dosages, my country, like the EU, the US, Japan, and other countries, adopts the same principles and methods as JECFA. This involves combining actual production and usage data of food additives with Chinese residents' food consumption data to conduct food safety risk assessments and formulate corresponding regulations regarding permitted varieties, scopes, and dosages to ensure the safety of food additives for consumption. Therefore, food additives used strictly in accordance with these regulations are safe.
